WINGS FOR BUTTERFLIES

This film, painted on glass, takes us into the magical landscape of the Californian redwood forests where peaceful existence is abruptly disturbed. Tree spirit, bird and butterfly try to restore the balance of their ecosystem. With flowing transitions, image and sound, the 23 year-old director/bright-eyed university graduate succeeds in conveying great emotion.

Jury statement

Made with a splendid animation technique, taking inspiration from real life, this film tells, in a poetic but realistic way, a story of nature’s resilience. The interesting use of the sound design without music, manages to grip our focus and attention as audience members. I believe this is a worthy mission of an animated short film and so we felt this film was deserving of an honorable mention.
